Acuario Senior Apartments

The Spanish Costa Blanca is considered by the World Health Organization to have one of the healthiest climates on the planet. Even during winter, nearly every day has some sunny hours with temperatures easily rising up to 22 degrees.

This is bringing more and more people from northern countries to spend their holidays in Spain, and many of them like the climate, the countryside, the affordable price levels and the Spanish social life so much, that they decide to come and live here permanently.

And all that without losing contact with family and friends back home, since low-cost-carriers have daily flights to and from the international airports of Valencia and Alicante. And don't forget the more than excellent highway-connections.

Nowadays an abundant local social life exist with each expat community having its own clubhouses, local newspapers and special supermarkets. And they all enjoy the climate, the beaches, the many golf courses, the restaurants; the best quality of life all year around.

Coming at age however, people start to get difficulties with climbing the stairs, maintaining the garden, and maybe experience the first sticky health problems.

When the going gets tougher, some will start looking for care apartments, with guaranteed medical assistance, preferably in their own language. Which however are hard to find, and in too many cases, people saw themselves forced to go back to their home countries.

Acuario

This is why the Acuario clinic, with a multinational staff of about 100 employees, in collaboration with Spanishdream.es and Grontmij, has taken the initiative to develop comfortable and luxurious care apartments in which the medical care can be guaranteed, for people as from 55+ or with handicap, securing the highest possible levels of quality of Life: staying fit and active.

These apartments are not just ideal for expats, but also for people 'back home' who would be so much better off living under the Spanish sun, enjoying the healthy climate all year round.

Due to this wonderful climate, many residents spend most of the time outside, playing bowls or simply enjoying the impressive surroundings.

Clínica San Carlos'/span> doctor Landa thinks that there is a great need for this type of housing:

&"Because of an enhanced sense of well-being, not only do we live longer then ever before, due to better treatment and medicine, life expectancy is constantly rising. In Spain we see a growing group of elderly people that do not want to go back to the UK, even if he/she or the partner is suffering from a disease or disability. But the current home is generally not easy to adapt and/or becomes too large and costly to maintain. For this group, our planned apartments might offer a perfect solution."/p>

TThe Care System

Self-sufficiency, freedom and privacy are the philosophy within our care system, you are free to choose to take part in the social activities you desire, you are free to take the services you want to have, for which you can choose out of 3 levels:

- Basic (mandatory – including also maintenance costs etc)

- Medium (with a.o. cleaning, home aid)

- High (full service)

There is a coordinator / manager, the ‘gobernante’, who will assist you as much as she can with all your questions and needs, and of course there is our multi national staff of doctors and nurses for the necessary medical assistance – 24 hours per day – 7 days per week.

The Care Apartments

In the setup of the apartments the outdoor area’s were central to enjoy optimal from the lovely climate of the Spanish Levante coast. Each apartment has a spacious terrace to live on.

To be able to offer the highest possible level of Quality in Life – as in the apartments as in the services, the apartments enjoy amongst others

- good accessibility with elevators where needed, and all doors minimal  -- 0,9m wide without thresholds

- special sound insulation (60DB) in walls and floors (floating top layers),

- built-in water reservoirs and down piping in shafts to minimize noise - - - nuisance

- temperature control (air conditioning)

- 24 hours alarm system

Even if your not at home, Acuario is there for you. We collaborate with clinics all along the Costa Blanca and to complement our services, we own two ambulances.

Acuario has two operating rooms. Therefore the term 'waiting list' does not exist in our vocabulary.

Acuario always caters for the latest medical equipment.

The central facilities include guestrooms for your family and friends who want to visit you for longer periods. The ‘gobernanta’ is managing all this for you.
